Frequently Asked Questions

At Deep Ellum 100 we believe in supporting the small businesses, service workers, visual artists and musicians in our community, but it takes resources to do this. We cannot do this work without you, and invite you to donate $100 or more to support our efforts in the Deep Ellum community.

“I love the intimacy of Deep Ellum. Everyone and everything is so connected. It makes you want to get involved and be a part of something big.”

How it Works

Our initial goal in May 2020 was to raise $10,000 as quickly as possible and distribute four grants to the pillars of Deep Ellum. Our second fundraiser and 2nd round of grants kicked off August 1st - September 5th, 2020, and we were able to raise over $20,000 to provide four additional financial recovery grants in Deep Ellum. Our third round fundraiser in less than a year kicked March 1st - April 15th 2021. When we blew past the $10,000 mark again, we gathered our donors for a virtual online grant meeting to introduce the applicants. Each time, the grant meeting is followed by the voting for the four grant recipients from our community who will each receive a $2,500 grant. We rely on you the donors to help us do this! Deep Ellum 100 is completely crowd funded and crowd sourced which means you get to help us select the recipients.

Who Benefits

At Deep Ellum 100 we believe in supporting the small businesses, service workers, visual artists and musicians who make up the core of our community. We welcome all individuals and businesses to join us in supporting local Deep Ellum restaurants, bars, or their favorite service workers, artists or musicians by making a donation and helping us provide grants to these four pillars in our neighborhood.

How Are The Funds Being Distributed?

Once we reach our goal for each fundraiser, we will reach out to each donor by email to introduce the applicants and give them an opportunity to select, the business, service worker, artist or band. These nominees are then vetted by our community board. Once the vetting process is complete, donors vote for an applicant from each group. How Does The Voting Process Work?

A virtual online meeting is held once our fundraising period is complete. All donors are listed at the bottom of our ‘Donate’ page. Deep Ellum Caremongers who donate $100 or more, are invited to participate in voting for the small business, service worker, artist or musician. Each grant applicant submits a brief explanation in their online application detailing the hardship they have experienced due to the loss of income, their work or business in Deep Ellum, and how a grant would benefit them personally. The virtual online grant meeting is streamed live and recorded to assist our donors in selecting the recipients. The applicant with the most votes in each category will be awarded a $2,500 grant. The grants are then awarded immediately following the voting process, and distributed to each individual.

Hear the stories and review our virtual online meeting here on our website, and on Facebook, Youtube channel or read about each grant applicant on our website.
