The Deep Ellum 100 provides grants and support for Deep Ellum artists, venues and other projects that fuel the spirit and atmosphere of the historic Dallas neighborhood.

The nonprofit started during the early days of the pandemic in May 2020, with the goal of raising funds for service workers, small businesses, and artists affected by the pandemic.

Over a 100 years after Leadbelly busked alongside Blind Lemon Jefferson in the streets of Deep Ellum, the music scene continues to thrive.

We would like to express our enormous gratitude to all the musicians and donors who made this album possible.

The Sounds of Deep Ellum serves as a time capsule of the current era, featuring a diverse group of musicians who add meaning to the cultural fabric of the neighborhood. The project’s goal is to capture the richness and diversity of the Dallas' music scene, and highlight the city’s best performers.

For decades, the Deep Ellum neighborhood has commanded the attention of international musicians with homegrown superstars like Tripping Daisy, Old 97s, Toadies, Charley Crockett, and Erykah Badu all playing a central role in keeping the culture alive.

"The people of Dallas - especially the wealthy people in Dallas - Need to believe that Deep Ellum is just as historically significant as the French Quarter in New Orleans or Beale Street in Memphis. They need to take pride in it, and they need to protect it,” Charley Crockett.

The preservation of Deep Ellum is essential to the soul of Dallas. This album serves as proof of the importance of this iconic neighborhood.
